The story in one paragraph

ZMZM Labs makes science-forward supplements and skincare for Muslim consumers who refused to choose between faith and quality. Every supplement is halal-certified by IFANCA (Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America) on top of internal lab testing. Every skincare product is wudu-safe — a methodology we developed and published, available for any consumer to verify. The catalog is organized around the five daily prayers, applying chronobiology to a routine that observant Muslims already live.

What’s unique

  • Two-tier transparency. Every PDP labels the product as Halal-Certified (third-party audited) or Halal-Friendly (internally verified). No conflation, no over-claiming.
  • Wudu-safe methodology. A documented 30-second water-permeability test that any consumer can perform on a 1×1 inch skin patch.
  • Prayer-window product design. Supplements and skincare routines structured around Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha — not to invent ritual, but because chronobiology agrees with timing principles that observant Muslims already follow.
  • 30-day money-back guarantee on opened products. Including supplements. Nobody else in the halal category does this.

Founder bio

Majid Abdow is the solo founder of ZMZM Labs, building the company from Louisville, Kentucky. He started ZMZM after the third time he checked a label on a beauty product, found gelatin or denatured alcohol, and put it back on the shelf. The brand is the answer to a personal frustration: that the existing halal product market was either marketed only to Muslims or quietly compromised on what “halal-friendly” actually meant.

Available story angles

  1. Halal is the new clean. Why halal certification — a 1,400-year-old ingredient framework — is converging with the modern clean beauty movement.
  2. The wudu problem nobody solved. Why most skincare disqualifies Muslim prayer and how a 30-second water test changes who products are made for.
  3. Solo founder, two-tier transparency. A Muslim American building a brand without hiding the difference between third-party-certified and internally-verified.
  4. Chronobiology meets ritual. Why prayer-window product design is not marketing language — it is what the research already says about cortisol, melatonin, and nutrient timing.
  5. Reactivating Amazon, expanding wholesale. The path from solo DTC to grocery shelves in Muslim communities.
